Frank, what isn’t there to say about the guy? He’s the kind of man who, no matter what he does he always ends up behind. That’s not to say that he doesn’t deserve to be in the positions he finds himself in. Frank is an alcoholic, self-centered, lazy human being. He even goes as far as to put credit cards in his children’s names and racks up debt on their behalf before many of them are even 18. If it weren’t for Fiona, the entire household would not have made it far as it has; she takes over the parenting role that Frank left behind.
Fiona Gallagher is the mom role of the other Gallagher kids. She is the oldest of the siblings and has been taking care of the rest of her siblings since she was 6 years old. Fiona has to drop out of school but eventually went back for her GED. Fiona goes through a lot of different jobs to try and keep her family a float. She is a strong woman who keeps the family together. Fiona tries her best to keep the family out of trouble, as well as herself.
Lip is the second oldest child in the Gallagher family, at 22 (in the current season). Since he is the oldest male, his younger siblings tend to reply on him a lot, even without realizing it. Lip is the smartest of the Gallagher’s’, clocking in with a 4.6 GPA. Don’t let his smarts fool you though, Lip makes terrible decisions when it comes to himself and his life choices. Lip (along with Fiona and Ian) is in charge of coming up with the money that the family needs for bills and food. He is responsible when it comes to his family, but not when it comes to himself.
Meet Liam Gallagher
Liam is a character there isn’t much to say about do to his young age. In season 2 at the age of 3 or 4 Liam manages to get into Fiona’s stash of cocaine and over dosed. Don’t worry he lives thanks to a trip to the hospital. Preceding Liam’s over dose his biological mother Monica tries to steal him away from his family on the grounds that she had moved on and wanted to start a family of her own.
Meet Kevin Ball
Kevin Ball is the oldest brother of the Gallagher group. His long term girlfriend is Veronica Fisher (and eventually wife) and they live next door to the Gallagher's. Kevin works at the local bar and is not the smartest character in the series. Kevin has troubles with spelling and math but makes up for it with his charm.
Meet Veronica Fisher
The characters in Shameless are all very unique individuals that bring their own characteristics to bring the show to life.
Carl Gallagher is the second youngest of the Gallagher clan. He is a teenager (16) with a juvenile record, and a knack for getting into trouble. Carl is easily influenced by those around him, which makes it difficult for him when it comes to making his own decisions. But, although he has theses struggles, he is a very independent teen. For a while, he made his money as a drug mule, but after a quick intervention and a few run-ins with the wrong people, he got out of that business and even gets into military school with the help of his ex-girlfriend’s father. Carl Gallagher is a teenager from a broken home who is doing his best to turn his life around.
Commonly called “V”, Veronica Fisher is a neighbor and a role model to the Gallagher’s. Because she is Fiona’s best and oldest friend, she understands the family’s ways and loves them all the same; she even considers herself a Gallagher at some points. “V” is best known for being married to Kevin “Kev” Ball, who owns the town bar. Veronica’s previous experience in a nursing home comes in handy for the reckless Gallagher’s because she has a lot of knowledge in nursing. She is a beautiful, sassy, and smart woman who you cannot help but fall in love with.
Ian Gallagher is the second oldest brother. Ian dropped out of high school to join the military under his oldest brothers, Lip, name. Ian eventually got into trouble with the military, but did not go to jail because he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Ian jumped around jobs for awhile before coming an EMT for Chicago. He got his certificate and in the current season is still an EMT.
Debbie is the only other girl in the Gallagher family, she may be young but man is she resourceful. Debbie has quite a way of making things end in her favor. Don’t let that fool you though she is extremely kind, protective, and influential. She struggles with comprehending the actions of her older siblings as well as society. In turn this makes Debbie an easy target to exploit.
