Material Rewards/Needs

Definition: our needs for money, food, shelter, and transportation

In season 1, Fiona gets involved with Jimmy (Steve), who is a car thief with a lot of money. After meeting once, Jimmy buys the Gallagher’s a new washer because theirs is broken. Jimmy and Fiona have a complicated on-and-off relationship, but when Jimmy is around, he helps out with the family’s material needs; he pays the family’s bills, drives the kids to school, and buys them food. Fiona is in love with Jimmy, and him with her; their relationship is not solely based on material items.

Material rewards or needs is meeting our needs for money, food and shelter (Floyd, 2017). These things are most likely shared with people that we feel close to. When those needs are met we tend to feel closer to those who may have helped us.
