Explicit Rule

Definiton: a rule about behavior that has been clearly articulated

Explicit rules play a part in Fiona’s life when she is declared a felon and is put on house arrest. Since she has a job and is the soul provider for the children in the house, the court judge lets her go to work, have a little fun in the city limits, and come back under the condition that she has to be home by 6pm sharp. If this rule is violated, she will be sent back to jail for at least 2 years. This falls under the category of explicit rules because Fiona must explain to everyone that she is not trying to be rude by leaving anything early, she is simply trying to get home by her "curfew". Also, because it is just a law/rule set by the court for her to be home, it could be considered an explicit rule as well.

An explicit rule is a spoken rule. This means that it was clearly stated and was made to be followed. These rules are to better help the communication process (Floyd, 2017).
