Family of Origin
Defintion: the family in which one grows up (often consisting of one’s parents and siblings)
Family of origin is the family in which one grows up in. This can consist of parents, siblings or even stepparents. There are many types of families some of which include nuclear family, blended family, single-parent family and extended family (Floyd, 2017).
The Gallagher family of origin contains, Ian, Fiona, Frank, Lip, Debbie, Liam, Carl. Monica, the mother, does not count in the family of origin because she abandoned the family when the children were young. Most of the very young kids do not even remember her ever being around. Frank is considered a family of origin because even though he did not do a lot to help parent the kids, he was will around as they were growing up.
