High-Contact Culture
Definition: a culture in which people touch frequently
The Gallagher family is a very high-contact family. Because the Gallaghers have such a hard time in life, they have to be able to show each other that they care and love about one another, in any way that they can. This high-contact culture is different from the culture that they grew up in. The south-side of Chicago might be considered low-contact because you might be seen as weak or gay when showing physical affection.

High-contact cultures are cultures where people touch often and have little personal space (Floyd, 2017). Some high-contact cultures include France, Mexico, and Greece (Floyd, 2017).
